Registration not required.
This lecture provides an introduction to Native American Art, Culture and Religion of the Eastern Woodlands. Attendees will learn about the Mound Builder tradition and such amazing monuments as the Serpent Mound in Ohio, an effigy mound aligned to the skies. We also discuss Cahokia and the Southeastern Ceremonial Complex, an elaborate cultural and religious system of the Mississippian Culture, builders of the largest North American mounds. Our final stop will be the shell mounds created in Florida.
Presenter Jayne Yantz is a History of Art Instructor at Rowan College at Burlington County.
