Joe's Spooky Victorian Christmas

Joe's Spooky Victorian Christmas In-Person

"There'll be scary ghost stories and tales of the glories of Christmases long, long ago..."

Christmas cards and spooky stories. Dangerous treats and haunting poetry. Many fun and curious traditions--and some would say the modern Christmas--sprang up and flourished under the gas-lights of 1800s England. Local storyteller and teacher Joe Wetterling will be your guide through the funny, heartfelt, and sometimes macabre Christmas of a century and a half ago: carols, cards, crackers, and (of course) Charles Dickens.

An evening of history and merriment ends with the reading of a Christmas ghost story (no, not that one). Guests will be bundled back into the "bleak December" with a booklet of traditions, recipes, and stories to share in your own spooky Victorian Christmas.
