A Forgotten Legacy of Black Women in WWII: 6888th Postal Battalion

A Forgotten Legacy of Black Women in WWII: 6888th Postal Battalion In-Person

Join us for a compelling presentation shedding light on the incredible contributions of women during World War II. The lecture will cover the trailblazing 6888th Postal Battalion, the first and only all-black, all-female battalion to serve overseas during World War II. These courageous women broke racial, gender, and segregation barriers, making a lasting impact on history.

Through captivating photos and powerful storytelling, this presentation honors their resilience and determination, inspiring all who hear their untold story.

Presenter LaCarole Faulkner, a proud resident of Moorestown, is a dedicated veteran of the U.S. Army, having achieved the rank of Major over an impressive 20-year career. Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant after completing her business undergraduate degree and the ROTC program, and while serving in the army, she completed her Masters Degree in Business Management. LaCarole joined during a transformative era in the late seventies and early eighties when she and other service-women began to serve alongside their male counterparts in training and/or combat roles. Her service, both stateside and overseas, echoes the sacrifices of the women of World War II, as she made her own mark in history.

This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Moorestown Library.
