History Talk- December 1776: The Hessians Attack In-Person
In December 1776, more than 2,000 Hessian and Scottish troops occupied northern Burlington County. Before the Battle of Trenton, there was the Battle of Petticoat Bridge and the Battle of Mount Holly. During this lecture, we'll take a deep dive into the legends surrounding this episode in the county’s history and set the record straight on where and how those consequential battles were fought. We'll also discuss the famous Widow of Mount Holly and how she may have saved the revolution.
Eric Orange, Museum Attendant at the Burlington County Division of Parks, will provide an in-depth lecture on this historic event.
