Broadway Musicals Discussion Part III

Broadway Musicals Discussion Part III In-Person / Online

In session 3, we will stop from a straightforward progression of a review of Broadway musical by time line, such as we have been doing on parts 1 AND 2 and switch to a special look at Broadway shows where "SOMETHING" new was added to what constituted what was presented on Broadway's musical stage. What we do in 2026 is not what was done in 1890 to be sure but there are specific shows that brought fresh new ideas to musical theater.

Since our time line presentations have already featured some of these ground breaking shows, it has come time to look at these mileposts in a specific manner, so we can see in other popular later shows where they were influenced by the ground breaking hits.

As usual, the lecture will be enhanced by over an hour of video clips from the music of Broadway.

Bill Holt will be your lecturer. Bill’s discussion groups have covered opera and operetta for over ten years at the Moorestown Library
