In this epic historical saga set in Sudan in the mid-1880s, Charlton Heston plays Charles “Chinese” Gordon, a devoutly Christian British general sent to Africa to try to halt “The Mahdi” (Laurence Olivier), a self-proclaimed prophet threatening those in the region. Ralph Richardson and Richard Johnson also star in this impressive production.

The program will include a brief intro and discussion after the movie.
