Broadway Musicals Part II In-Person / Online
Broadway has been synonymous with the best theater in the United States for over 125 years. Broadway musicals have a long history of evolution, even the place where they are performed. This lecture is the story of that evolution. Broadway Musicals Part II will include a lecture and video excerpts from shows in the late 1930’s (Rogers and Hart, Kurt Weill) to Lerner and Loewe’s “My Fair Lady”, 1954 and includes the start of Broadway’s “golden age, with 1943’s “Oklahoma" by Rogers and Hammerstein.
Bill Holt will be your lecturer. Bill’s discussion groups have covered opera and operetta for over ten years at the Moorestown Library. He will be adding Broadway musicals to his presentations.
