Build a Birdfeeder & Discover Backyard Birds In-Person

Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day by building your very own wooden birdfeeder to take home and hang in your yard. We’ll also share tips on keeping feeders clean, choosing seed that attracts different birds, and you'll receive a simple guide to identify the birds visiting your feeder. Supporting backyard birds helps provide important food sources for both local and migrating species.

Please note that this workshop involves basic hand tools and participants will hammer nails into wood pieces to assemble their feeder. Participants should be comfortable using a hammer and working with simple building materials.

This program is supported by Flight Path, the first campaign of the Spark of Science@ My Library initiative, which focuses on the science of birds and migration.

This program is part of our week long celebration of World Migratory Bird Day. World Migratory Bird Day is a biannual global campaign celebrated on the second Saturday in May and October to highlight the need for conserving migratory birds and their habitats.
