Monday Night Movie and Discussion: The Heiress

Monday Night Movie and Discussion: The Heiress In-Person

Olivia de Havilland won the Academy Award for Best Actress in this moving adaptation of Henry James’ “Washington Square“ by director William Wyler (“Ben-Hur”). Set in New York City’s Greenwich Village in mid-19th Century, de Havilland plays the socially awkward daughter of physician Ralph Richardson. De Havilland believes she has found the man of her dreams in dashing, mysterious Montgomery Clift, but her father, convinced Clift is just out for her inheritance, attempts to stop the relationship. Miriam Hopkins co-stars as de Havilland’s impulsive spinster aunt.

The program will include a brief intro and discussion after the movie.
